Allergy to meat?

Wow, it's been awhile huh?

The last few weeks have been the usual. I got a nasty sinus infection and I'm still recovering from that. I'm feeling much better but just can't get rid of the coughs.

I have been suffering from some gastrointestinal distress for the last few years. With no help from my dr (his suggestion was to take benefiber). Funny, considering I was taking 9 benefiber/day. Exactly how many more should I take? I stumbled across some info that said a lot of people with IBS suffer from food allergies. I set up an appt with an allergist and had some prick & blood tests done. Turns out I am allergic to meat. Yes, I said meat. Specifically chicken/turkey, pork, fish and beef and also corn. So I have taken all meat out of my diet and I am feeling so much better. I can't believe I suffered with those symptoms for YEARS and not one of the doctor's I've seen has recommended allergy testing. Very disappointing that they have years of education and experience and I had to find my answer on the internet. I sure seems like anymore you have to self-diagnosis yourself before you go to the doctor.

Oh well, onto happier thoughts. We are taking the pups to the groomer today for baths and trims. We're going to do lunch with friends and a little shopping while we are in Erie. While we're there I'm going to swing by Wegman's and pick up some yummy vegetarian goodnesses. It's terribly hard to find corn free products. The market's here in Meadville don't have much selection which makes it especially hard since I'm not very fond of most vegetables. Guess I'm going to have to learn to love (or at least tolerate) veggies. Oh boy!
